A quick update on keyword research. I’ve now tried using multiple keyword tools. I’ve used Market Samurai, Long Tail Pro and Ultimate Niche Finder. I purchased Ultimate Niche Finder but haven’t used it properly yet.
I also posted a project on oDesk and received 2 serious applications. I’m interviewing one guy, Ali in India, who seems to know what he’s talking about. I’ll post in the future and do at least one podcast/video on my outsourcing tricks.
I’ve also contacted some people on the Warrior Forum and WickedFire. There are endless profitable niches out there. It’s just a matter of finding them.
This is really important to remember: The harder it is to do, the less people there will be doing it. For example, most people don’t know how to get 1 cent likes on Facebook. I do. I’ll be talking about it in future episodes. Most people don’t know how to outsource for almost free. These things (and many others) are so hard for most people they don’t even try or don’t even realize it’s a possibility! That’s great for you and me because it gives us a wide open opportunity to move in and take over that area. Like I said, I’ll talk about this more later.
So, after spending about 15 hours on Market Samurai and Long Tail Pro, I found one keyword. I can’t reveal it at this point but I can tell you about it.
We had certain requirements for our keywords. It needed at least 3000 exact match, local USA searches, a subject that people want to advertise, something related to a niche where people are passionate (i.e., willing to shell out some cash, which means they’ll click on an ad and buy something, but as far as we’re concerned they’ll click on an ad) and very little competition. It’s so hard to find keywords like this. It’s literally a needle in a haystack. But, if you stick at it long enough, you can find the needle.
The keyword has a local search of 2500 (a little less than I would like, but close enough) and average Adwords CPC of $2.37 which is really good.
I’m considering doing 2 or 3 sites at the same time to see what works best.
If it’s not clear to you yet why this is so important, I’ll explain it. This is the seed for our tree. If the seed is not the right type of tree for the conditions in our forest or it’s not healthy and in good shape, we won’t get the beautiful, strong tree we want. The keyword is the basis of this whole concept of building a niche site.
I don’t have a clue how much it will make a month. There are estimates in Market Samurai, but they’re just estimates. I’m guessing if I get ranked #1 it will make around $1000 – $2000 a month. We’ll see.
